Introduction to Digital Photography

This class is for beginning photographers. The instructor will lecture on such topics as camera functions, ISO, white balance, depth of field, exposure, metering, histograms, and elements of composition. Students will be given weekly assignments and have their work critiqued. Please bring your camera and manuals to class.
This class is taught by Bob Pizzurro, who has over 30 years of experience in macro photography. He is a published nature photographer and experienced wedding and portrait photographer.
Watercolor at Mayslake

Enjoy exploring the many techniques of watercolor in a beautiful, quiet setting at Mayslake Peabody Estate. The class will cover basic watercolor skills and advanced techniques, depending on each student’s skill level. Individual critiques and demonstrations will help each painter hone their skills and discover individual styles.

In this newly expanded workshop, author Carmela Martino will help students develop their writing and revision skills via lectures plus reading and writing assignments. Students will receive a critique of their own work while learning how to critically study the work of other writers in a friendly, supportive environment. You must bring copies of your manuscript—a picture book, short story, or novel excerpt—to the first class. Attendance on Tuesday, Sept. 14, is mandatory. Also, before enrolling you must email Carmela for word count limits and manuscript guidelines:

Critical mass is “a threshold value of the number of people needed to trigger a phenomenon through the exchange of ideas.” The artists of Little City’s Center for the Arts are first and foremost artists. Though they also happen to be people with disabilities, they are not defined by their disabilities and neither is their art.
Featuring the art of Harold Jeffries, John King, Mike Lyon, Wayne Mazurek, Tarik Echols, Luke Tauber, Jeff Burke, and others, Critical Mass will change society’s view of the disabled, one person at a time.

Not to be missed will be a unique musical and theatrical performance by multi-talented artist Jean Schonta.
